Terms and Conditions

1. Terms of Payment

1.1 Collection & delivery customers must pay before or on delivery by cash unless a credit account has been agreed in advance.
1.2 We reserve the right not to collect or deliver items until payment has been received.
1.3 Counter customers must pay before or on collection by cash or card.


2. Pricing

2.1 We reserve the right to change prices or offers at any time without prior notice.
2.2 All prices are inclusive of the standard rate of VAT where applicable.
2.3 All payments are non-refundable once services have been completed.


3. Garment Inspection & Complaints

3.1 Customers must check all garments at the time of collection before leaving the store. By removing items from the premises, the customer confirms they are satisfied with the condition of the items returned.
3.2 Any issues, discrepancies, or complaints relating to cleaning, pressing, damage, or missing items must be reported within 48 hours of collection or delivery.
3.3 We cannot accept claims or complaints raised after this 48-hour period, as garments may have been worn, stored, or exposed to conditions outside of our control.
3.4 This policy does not affect your statutory rights.


4. Exclusions of Liability

4.1 Whilst every effort is made to identify potential issues before cleaning, Magee’s cannot accept responsibility for inherent weaknesses or defects in materials that are not apparent prior to cleaning.
4.2 We are not responsible for sun fading, colour loss, wear and tear, or shrinkage due to age or condition of the garment.
4.3 Magee’s is not responsible for defects not drawn to our attention at the time the garment is left for cleaning.
4.4 We are not responsible for damage to items unsuitable for dry cleaning, wet cleaning, laundering or ironing. Items without care labels are cleaned at the owner’s risk and processed in the same way as similar garments.
4.5 All garments are accepted for cleaning on the understanding that Magee’s will follow the manufacturer’s care label instructions. We cannot be held responsible for any loss, damage, shrinkage, colour loss, or deterioration where cleaning has been carried out according to those instructions.
4.6 Any such issues will be considered the result of manufacturing faults, inherent defects, or weaknesses in the garment, for which Magee’s accepts no liability. Customers should refer any such claim to the manufacturer or retailer.
4.7 Trimmings such as sequins, beads, belts, buckles, brooches, painted or printed logos/artwork, fur, zips, hoods, collars, and inner linings may not be suitable for cleaning and may become damaged or detached during the cleaning process. Such items are cleaned at the owner’s risk.
4.8 Magee’s cannot be held responsible for damage caused by accessories attached to garments.
4.9 We are not responsible for ink marks left by our poly-marking label system.
4.10 In the event that an item is lost or damaged beyond use through the fault of Magee’s or its employees, our liability will not exceed five times the cost of the cleaning charge.
4.11 Where responsibility for damage is unclear, we may seek independent inspection or manufacturer guidance, and any compensation will be based on the findings of that report.


5. Stain Removal

5.1 While all reasonable care will be taken, stain removal cannot be guaranteed and items are cleaned at the owner’s risk.
5.2 Stains should be identified when the garment is handed in, as this increases the chance of successful removal.
5.3 Previous attempts to remove stains using non-professional methods may reduce the likelihood of successful treatment.
5.4 Water or condensation marks may become more visible after cleaning and cannot always be removed through the dry-cleaning process.
5.5 Some stains require stronger treatment methods, which may carry additional risk and cannot guarantee complete removal.


6. Bulk Service Wash / Commercial Laundry

6.1 Bulk service washes are processed as presented in the bag or group provided. We do not separate items by colour or fabric type.
6.2 As no inventory is taken, we cannot accept responsibility for colour fastness, shrinkage, or missing items.
6.3 Customers must ensure only washable items are included in service wash bags.
6.4 Service washes are typically washed at 30°C using non-biological detergent and tumble dried at medium-high heat.
6.5 Commercial laundry is generally washed at 60°C using stain remover and biological detergent and tumble dried at medium-high heat.
6.6 Laundry hampers and bags supplied to commercial clients remain the property of Magee’s and must be returned if the service ends. Missing items will incur a £5 replacement fee per item.


7. Ties

7.1 Some ties contain padding that may twist or distort during cleaning. Ties are therefore cleaned at the owner’s risk.


8. Curtains

8.1 Curtain fabrics may shrink during cleaning, although this is usually minimal.
8.2 Environmental conditions such as humidity and sunlight exposure can contribute to shrinkage.
8.3 Fabric manufacturers allow for  3-5% shrinkage, which should be considered when curtains are originally made. this is industry standard.
8.4 Cleaning may remove accumulated dust and dirt, which can make fading more noticeable, particularly on velvet fabrics.


9. Collection & Delivery

9.1 Collection and delivery times are estimates only and do not form part of a contract.
9.2 Magee’s reserves the right to refuse or cancel service where staff safety may be at risk.
9.3 If access cannot be gained at the scheduled time, we will attempt to rearrange delivery. A minimum £3 re-delivery charge may apply.


10. Right to Refuse Service

Magee’s reserves the right to refuse service to any customer.


11. Uncollected Garments

Garments not collected within 3 months may be disposed of without further notice.


12. Lost Laundry

Bulk laundry items are not individually inventoried, therefore we cannot guarantee verification of every item received.
Customers should report missing items within 24 hours of receiving their laundry.
Magee’s cannot be responsible for damage caused by items left in pockets or garments unsuitable for standard laundering.


13. Suede & Leather Trims

Suede and leather garments contain natural variations and inherent weaknesses. Cleaning may result in colour variation, texture change, shrinkage, or adhesive issues, for which we cannot accept responsibility.


14. High-Risk Items

For certain items such as curtains, rugs, leather, suede, wedding dresses, beaded garments, or other high-risk items, we may require a signed consent form before processing.


15. Privacy

We respect our customers’ privacy. No personal information will be sold or shared with third parties, and all customer information is handled with appropriate care and security.


16. Acceptance of Terms

By using or accepting our services, customers agree to the Magee’s Dry Cleaning & Laundry Terms & Conditions. These terms are displayed in store, printed on your receipt, and available on our website.

Acceptance of our service constitutes acceptance of these terms and conditions.
